The New Times of 30th July 2009 erroneously reported that Rwanda has been ranked 138th out of 181 countries this year.

I wish to clarify that this is inaccurate given that the assessment this year will be known in September 2009.

The above mentioned result came out in September 2008 referring to the World Bank Doing Business Report for 2009.

The Government has effected an ambitious set of reforms designed to improve Rwanda’s ranking in the upcoming assessment and we are on track to move into the double digit range come September 2009.

This will set the stage to further deepen reforms to our business environment that are conducive to investment and to the promotion of the private sector as an engine of economic growth and employment.
