THE MTN Peace Cup final has been brought forward to Saturday, Times Sport has learnt. The final, initially scheduled for Sunday has been moved forward because Amahoro stadium, the venue for the final, will stage a Gospel crusade on Sunday.
"The stadium will not be available on Sunday. After talking to sponsors MTN and the respective clubs, the final and third-place play-off will now be played on Saturday,” Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said.
2009 Cecafa/Kagame Cup winners Atraco will clash with three-time Cup winners Mukura in the final, whose kick-off has been set for 4pm.
The final will be preceded by a third-place playoff contest between 2008 Peace Cup champions APR and six-time winners Rayon Sport.
Mukura have not won the Cup since 1992 but have put their faith in head coach Ali Bizimungu, who masterminded their quarterfinal win over SC Kiyovu and semifinal win over APR.
