APR ladies instilled fear in their Zone 5 opponents after thrashing Kenyan giants and defending champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) on Monday.
The Rwandan champions thumped KPA 64-39 to get their FIBA Africa Zone 5 championship campaign off to a flier.
It was however a bad outing for National University of Rwanda (UNR) as they went down 79-35 to Uganda’s KCC Leopards.
Mariam Birungi and Annet Nakiwu combined for 25 points as Leopards raced to their first win of the championship where the top two sides will qualify for the FIBA-Africa Club Championship for women in Cotonou, Benin later this year.
Marine also seem to be enjoying themselves in the men’s fray after winning their opening two games. The 2007 champions edged Uganda’s Falcons 75-71 in their opener before thrashing ABC 87-66
By press time, Marine were gearing up for their final pool game against Burundi’s Newstars. CSK were also warming up for a tricky test against Uganda’s D’Mark Power.
CSK suffered an 81-70 defeat in their opening match against Kenya’s Cooperative bank.
