THE President of the World Organization of Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD) Pierre Van Meenen has praised the Rwanda National Paralympic Committee for staging a colourful sitting volleyball World Cup qualifier.

Vanmeen, who graced the two-day event, credited NPC for adhering to the international standards.

"They (NPC-Rwanda) deserve full credit because the tournament was a big success. But anyway, that’s the reason we chose them in the first place,” said the French official.

Egypt won the two day event which climaxed last Sunday, but because it had already qualified from its Zone, Rwanda and Kenya who finished second and third respectively secured the two world cup slots at stake.

The two countries will now represent the Great Lakes region at the World Cup slated for November in USA.

The Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc) was the main sponsor after splashing Rwf10million in the event. Other sponsors included Sulfo, Sorwathe, Cogear, Hoteltech, Human help network, AHUPA digital services, Fond de Garantie Automobile, Right to play and Rwandair Express.
