Kibuye v Amagaju
The battle to stay in the topflight division takes center stage this afternoon when Kibuye host Amagaju at Gatwaro stadium in a match that will determine who of the two will join the already relegated La Jeunesse in the second tier division.
Kibuye are 11th on the league table with 21 points, two points adrift of Amagaju and only a win can guarantee their safety, a prospect that Kibuye coach Casimir Nkurikiye is sure of achieving.
"It is very simple for us this afternoon, a win will guarantee us safety and a draw or a loss will have us play in the second division. I don’t have to explain a lot to the players because they understand the situation very well.
"We are playing at home, and that will give us a slight edge, but overall, we are confident of winning this match and stay in this division,” Nkurikiye told Times Sport by phone yesterday.
Kibuye were promoted to the top division along with Atraco three seasons ago while Amagaju advanced last year but are in danger of going down on their very first debut.
