NYAMASHEKE – The district plans to construct a documentary centre worth Rwf48million that will keep historical data about the district.

This was revealed by Jean Pierre Ndagijimana, the Nyamasheke District Executive Secretary during a council meeting held to discuss the 2009/ 2010 district budget.

The meeting took place at Kagano parish on Monday.
Speaking to The New Times shortly after the meeting, Ndagijimana said that the construction slated to begin in November or early January will be funded by the Switzerland cooperation.

"This documentary centre of our district will include various items about the history of this region. I am sure it is going to attract tourists from around the world and even Rwandans from other parts of the country to visit  our district,” Ndagijimana said.

He added that the centre will have a public library, Internet café, public entertainment hall and office spaces.

According to Ndagijimana, the centre would be constructed at the district headquarters. He added that the tender for its construction is yet  to be issued.
