Former APR midfield duo of Manfred Kizito and Jannot Witakenge are the major casualties not given the nod in the Ferwafa provisional named team for the forth coming Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup slated for December 8-22 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The duo were influential in former national coach Michael Nees team that failed to qualify for the 2008 African Nations Cup finals due in Ghana.

Ferwafa dropped the duo in their provisional list which will face a media select team on Tuesday.

The game which help the newly appointed national team coach, Josip Kuze select a squad which will represent the country in this year’s regional Challenge Cup.

This idea was reached by Kuze after he found it difficult to select a national team without the knowledge of how the local players play.

Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer, Jules Kalisa also said that this was the only way to assist the new coach chose and name players who he thought would help get Rwanda back on the winning path.

"He is the one (Josip) who proposed the idea and we also found it necessary to assist him because we all ought to have a strong squad for future championships,” Kalisa said.

Meanwhile, efforts to get the media select team were futile by press time as sports journalists were still making the final selection at Ferwafa head quarters by last evening.
