FDLR burn houses as they flee

GOMA-Reports indicate that FDLR rebels burnt 17 houses in Luofu village, DRC North Kivu province as they fled a Congolese army (FARDC) pursuit last Sunday night.

The incident is said to have taken place in the Luofu-Muhanga axis.The rebels who still remain in several pockets of North Kivu continue pillaging, raping and terrorizing Congolese civilians.

Rwanda gets ICT buses

KIGALI-Rwanda will today receive two buses fully equipped with different ICT facilities with each bus having 20 computers with accessories.  The buses are to be received today at the Rwanda-Uganda border of Gatuna by officials of Rwanda development Board.

The ICT buses will act as mobile telecentres aimed at helping to bridge the digital divide affecting the rural areas.  It will be a mobile computer lab that will benefit farmers, traders, students, women, and among others, and hence facilitating the social-economic development of Rwanda.

Minifra PS testifies

GASABO-The infrastructure ministry’s permanent secretary Marie Claire Mukasine was recently summoned by a Gasabo court to testify in the high profile graft case involving her predecessor Vincent Gatwabuyege.Sources say that Mukasine testified Monday 27 against the suspects, who also include CEPEX director George Katurebe.


MINICOFIN, stakeholders meet

KIGALI-The ministry of finance in conjunction with the National Bank of Rwanda will today meet stakeholders with an aim of updating them on the state of the Rwandan economy.

According to BNR officials, the stakeholders include bankers, researchers, policymakers and the civil society.
The meeting is expected to feature Rwanda’s economic state amidst the global financial crisis.
