The second edition of the East African Investment Conference starts today.The three-day forum hosted in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi will showcase case investment opportunities and communicate the economic prospects in the five country bloc.

It is also aimed at engaging potential investors in economic bloc in business promotion within the region to attract potential investors in various sectors.

Investors and partner states officials will sensitise the world on the latest strides made in advancing the economic integration front at the East Africa Community (EAC).

"All this is aims to spur economic development thereby reducing poverty and creating wealth by stimulating a larger market for goods and services in the partner states,” a statement from the EAC Secretariat reads.

According to information from the Secretariat, regional entrepreneurs, potential investors and exporters, partner states officials, and development partners are some of the 1000 participants expected.

There will also be exhibition of products and services made from within the region. The exhibition will parallel at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), the venue of the conference.

The conference under the theme, ‘Invest in EAC, where the challenges are opportunities’ is expected to be graced by Kenyan President, Mwai Kibaki.

Each partner state is allocated space to exhibit its products and services from priority sectors, probably as outlined in the national visions and strategy blueprints.

This follows remarkable success registered in the inaugural conference that was hosted in Kigali, Rwanda last year. This was under theme, ‘East African Community- One Market One Destination.’
