Cameroonian-born and former APR striker Abbas Rassou has joined Hungarian first division club, VTK Diosgyor.

The striker joined the club late last month after a fortnight stint of training sessions in Budapest city based club.

During Abbas’ time at APR, he steered the military side to five titles; the 2005/6 and 2006/7 primus national league titles, Lotto Cup, Cecafa/Kagame Cup and Amahoro Cup.

The 22-year old joined APR back in 2005 from one of his native soccer academies in Cameroon.

Though the Cameroonian international had ended his two-year playing contract with APR, the military side is waiting for a share on his recruitment from the Hungarian club.

APR’s Secretary General, Maj. Alex Sabiti recently said that the Hungarian club will have to part with some cash before securing his International Transfer Certificate from Rwanda.

"I think we still have rights on Abbas so if he is moving to a new club, APR definitely has to gain something out of the transfer,” Sabiti said.

Abbas is the latest APR player to join a European-based club after Olivier Karekezi (Helsingborg), Jimmy Mulisa (VW Hamme), Kenya’s Titus Mulama and Uganda’s Abubaker Tabula who are plying their profession in the Swedish second division.
