Rwanda and Kenya secured their slots at this year’s Sitting Volleyball World Cup in USA after impressive performances in the qualifiers which climaxed on Sunday at Kigali’s NPC Gymnasium.

Egypt topped the point charts with 375 but since they were already assured of a World Cup slot after topping their zone, it was down to the second and third finishers.

Rwanda finished second in the round-robin event after amassing 365 points while Kenya took third place with 319 points.

Burundi (280 points), DR. Congo (269 points) and Uganda (248 points) finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

At the end of the qualifiers, NPC president Dominique Bizimana lauded the national team for qualifying for the World Cup and also thanked all the sponsors for making the event a success.
"We are very proud of the team but we would also like to extend our gratitude to the sponsors who made the event a colourful one,” he said.

The qualifiers cost about Rwf12million. The World Cup is set for November.
