2007 National rugby champions, Gorilla FC depart this morning for Kampala, Uganda ahead of the Hima-Mak 10s tournament slated for this weekend at Kyadondo rugby club.
The team leaves aboard a Jaguar coach and according to an e-mail from the sponsors ‘Hima Cement’, the team’s expenses while in Uganda will be fully catered for.
The e-mail confirmed that Gorilla’s travel, accommodation and restaurant expenses will be fully footed by the company.
On top of Uganda’s local clubs, six foreign clubs are expected to take part in the annual tournament.
Over Shs60 millions (about Frw 20.3 millions) has been set aside for the event that ticks off tomorrow.
Uganda’s top clubs (Impis and Pirates) are expected to meet stiff competition from Kenya’s in-form KCB (Kenya Commercial Bank) who dominated Kenya’s rugby season.
Impis are the defending champions.
The traveling contingent couldn’t be established by press time yesterday as selection was set for the wee hours.
"I can’t know who is leaving or staying because we are making final selections later today,” the federation vice president Paul Ogga yesterday said.
