An injury time winner from midfielder Jean Bosco Ruboneka earned APR FC three maximum points as they came from behind to beat Marines FC 2-1 at Umuganda Stadium on Wednesday, January 8.
The away win in Rubavu helped Darko Novic’s army side close the gap at the top of the Rwanda Premier League.
The game saw Marines FC threatening the vital area of APR FC on a number of occasions as Taiba Mbonyumwani caused early problems for the visitors.
APR were, on the other hand, struggling in attack as they could barely finish numerous chances that winger Gilbert Mugisha created.

After the break, Olivier Usabimana shot Marines FC ahead in the 49th minute as the defending league champions begun to chase the game.
Novic brought on Alain ‘Bacca’ Kwitonda and Seidu Dauda for Olivier Dushimimana and Taddeo Lwanga respectively as they began to play free flowing football.
Kwitonda restored parity for APR in the 59th minute after taking control of the game.
Ghanaian midfielder Richmond Lamptey came in for Mahamadou Lamine Bah in the 62nd minute as APR dictated the pace of the game. The Rwandan champions pushed more men forward but Marines were tight at the back as they thwarted most of their efforts.
With the game destined to end in a draw, Ruboneka popped up with a 95th minute winner as APR secured a 2-1 win to complete a comeback. They remain in second place on the league table with 31 points from 14 games, moving up to within five points shy of league leaders Rayon Sports.
They close the first round of the league with a trip to Huye Stadium where they will visit Amagaju FC on Sunday, January 12.
