Olivier Karekezi’s dream move to Al Ahly has stalled after his Norwegian side Ham Kam failed to reach an agreement with the Egyptian giants.

According to Norway’s HA-Sport, Al Ahly’s offer was way below what Ham Kam wanted for the midfielder.
It is reported that Ham Kam wanted Al Ahly to break the bank by offering $1.8 million.

Ham Kam Sport Coordinator Svein Inge Haagenrud said, "We came to an agreement on the price but after Karekezi played for Rwanda in a World Cup qualifier against Egypt, Al Ahly sports manager called and said they were not interested.”

Ham Kam is still confident that they will get the money they need from the sell of the Rwandan national team captain.

Haagenrud said that an Asian and another European club (undisclosed) have expressed their desire to sign the Amavubi skipper. "I can not name any of the clubs, but both are very interested,” says Haagenrud.

The former APR star moved to Ham Kam after spending three seasons with Swedish club Helsingborg.

His potential switch to Al-Ahly, Egypt and Africa’s most successful club would have been a boost to his career and the national team, particularly at this time when the squad is struggling in its campaign to qualify for the 2010 World Cup and African Nations Cup.

Al-Ahly have already signed Moroccan striker Abdel Salam Bengalon from Scottish club Hibernian on three-year contract thus ending their interest in Karekezi.
