Police FC have reportedly considering sacking their head coach Vincent Mashami amid a string of poor results in Rwanda Premier League.

One of Police FC players told Times Sport that the Rwandan tactician missed Wednesday’s training session and with reports suggesting that he may have been shown exit door after two-and-a-half-year at the club.

Despite spending big in the June 2024 transfer window, Police FC have struggled in the first round of the league campaign as they currently sit 4th on the table with 23 points, trailing league leaders Rayon Sports by 13 points.

The top hierarchy of the club is said to be unimpressed by the team’s performance under Mashami and are already discussing with the coach on the possibility to part ways.

However, club Secretary General CIP Claude Umutoni dismissed the reports.

"Mashami is still the coach of Police FC. We shall update you as soon as anything happens, but he is still our coach,” Umutoni told Times Sport.

However, sources indicate that the club is already in talks with Innocent Seninga as potential replacement for Mashami.

Seninga, who currently coaches Djiboutian top tier side Gendarmerie FC, is in Kigali for negotiations, according to the sources. Should the talks materialize, the former Sunrise coach could take up the Police job until the end of the season.

Police FC appointed Mashami as their coach in July 2022, succeeding Scottish gaffer Frank Elliott Nuttall.
