Semifinal, 2nd leg

Mukura v APR (Huye stadium)

Holders APR Fc face their toughest challenge of the season when they take on Mukura in the second leg of the MTN Peace Cup Semi-finals this afternoon in Huye, Southern Province.

Initially, the game was supposed to be played on Saturday but was postponed to enable Mukura honour the burial of the remains of victims of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
After being held to a 2-2 draw in the first leg, all the pressure will be on APR who risk finishing the season empty handed.

Well aware that Huye has always been a poor hunting ground for the military side, APR’s Dutch coach Erik Paske admitted that his side faces a tough challenge.

"I am really worried about their (Mukura) playground. It’s not a good ground for our style of play but we shall not allow that to get to our heads. We want to win and qualify for the final,” said Paske.

The Dutchman acknowledged that the MTN Peace Cup is his team’s best chance of silverware.

"The Peace Cup is not won yet, anyone in the semifinal can win it. It’s not like the league where we’re only relying on Atraco losing their final game.”

Although the Southern Province outfits are likely to play without their top striker Aboubacar Munyambengu, Mukura have an added advantage of having scored two crucial away goals. Munyambengu is suspended for today’s clash.
