RAJAN Tiwari secured his first silverware of the season after lifting the MTN July mug on Saturday.

Playing in a field of about 48 golfers, the handicap 02 golfer played one-over par 73, beating his closest contender Joseph Semwaga by four strokes.

It was a great comeback for Tiwari who dominated headlines in 2007.

At the front nine, Tiwari had a mixed display after a birdie and three bogeys but he made swift amends on the back nine after a stunning eagle on the 13th hole. Overall, he played four-over on the front nine and one under on the back nine.

On top of the winner’s trophy, he also received a brand new Canon EOS 3000N camera from tournament sponsors MTN Rwanda.

Other winners on the day included Alphonsine Murekatete, Gavin Cooper and Willy Rugema (74net). In particular, Murekatete had a good outing after a brilliant round of 69net. She received a fully installed HTC phone for her efforts.

After five monthly mugs, Joseph Semwaga has won two editions (April and June) while Steven Katwiremu (March), Emmanuel Nsengamungu (May) and Tiwari (July) have won one a piece.
