African Development Bank (AfDB) President Dr. Donald Kaberuka is seeking a second term as the head of the continental bank. He has already received maximum support from the Rwandan government, which is actively advancing his cause.
Kaberuka has led and served the Tunis based bank with distinction and excellence. He has instituted and seen through major reforms that have turned around the institution.
He has without doubt been an agent of progress and change for the better at the AfDB. Thus the need for him to stay at the helm of the body is derived from the necessity for continuity.
In his first term as head of AfDB, he has ably represented Africa on the international scene and for that reason among others, Africa; one can argue is in the process of full integration into the world economy.
AfDB is an important player in the process of Africa’s full integration and its President plays a major role in this process.
Kaberuka’s wealth of experience and achievement in the area of economics and finance both in Rwanda and internationally, has been well documented. And that is the experience needed at this moment in time.
His record of achievement as the head of AfDB speaks for itself. It is therefore very important to keep the captain of a winning team.
And at the same time, he represents what Rwanda can do both as a nation and by its people. He is one of the many (gifted) Rwandans that are dedicated to serve not only the Rwandan people, but also Africans and the rest of humanity.
