All 80 lawmakers from the Lower Chamber of Parliament are expected in Bugesera District this Saturday to participate in community work, Umuganda.

According to a statement from the Speaker’s office, the parliament has set a new trend of fully participating in Umuganda together with citizens after which they will interact with the residents.

"As a way of emphasizing decentralization, MPs have decided to start participating in Umuganda every end of the month at district level and will visit all the 30 districts of the country separately,” reads the statement.

It also adds in part that MPs will have to interact with the people after Umuganda, talk to them and ensure that they solve all their grievances.

"The programme kicks off this Saturday and will be held in Murama cell of Nyamata Sector of Bugesera district,” the statement reads in part.
