MAURICE Bikorimana has intensified his workout in the boxing ring ahead of next month’s AIBA World Boxing Championship in Milan, Italy.

The lightweight linchpin, who beat Jean Claude Gatorano- welter weight (69kg), Pascal Sibomana-light weight (60kg) and David Nsabimana-feather weight (57kg) to the lone spot up for grabs, is working with national coach Gashugi Kananura at Amahoro.

Before the championship scheduled to run from August 29-September 13, Bikorimana will under-go a 17-day intensive training camp in Milan courtesy of AIBA, the world boxing body.

AIBA will foot his air ticket as well as accommodation expenses during the training camp and championship.
Bikorimana is expected to jet out on August 10.

Rwanda’s Amateur Boxing Association (Raba) is looking for a good performance after missing out of last year’s championships which were held in Chicago, USA.

Italy will host the championships after beating Korea in bidding.

The World Amateur Boxing Championships organised by AIBA is the highest competition in amateur boxing.
