TANZANIA’S national football team Taifa Stars have confirmed their readiness to play Amavubi next month. The Taifa Stars will test Branko Tucak’s wasps as part of the team’s preparations for their September 5 crunch World/Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt.

The tie, scheduled for August 12 will be played in Kigali.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information Officer Florian Kaijage told the Tanzanian media recently that the match would be used to maintain the team’s rhythm ahead of next year’s Africa Nation Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

On the other hand, Tucak should be fairly contended with the news as he tries to revitalize the team ahead of what should be a tough road to Angola.

Rwanda is drawn in Group C alongside Algeria, Zambia and African champions Egypt and with dreams of a debut World Cup appearance almost shuttered, Amavubi need to finish inside the top three to make the trip to Angola.

Rwanda did little to salvage any hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Cup and Africa Nations Cup after managing a point from a possible nine. After being held to a goalless draw in their opening qualifier against Algeria, Amavubi crumbled to back to back defeats against Zambia (0-1) and Egypt (0-3).

Algeria, who had a good run in the first leg top the group with seven points after two wins and a draw. Egypt leapfrogged Zambia to second place after a compelling 3-0 home win against Amavubi. The win left Egypt and Zambia level on points (four) but the former enjoy a superior goal difference.

Amavubi have also lined up two friendlies against DR. Congo.
