Rwamagana - Business Development Services (BDS) a capacity building service arm of the Private Sector Federation(PSF) is set to offer the local business community eCommerce solutions to boost local competitiveness.

"We want to utilize Information Communication Technologies (ICT) to support all business activities in the district,” Omar Nyamubanza the BDS manager Rwamagana district said.

Omar  revealed that  eCommerce focuses on the use of ICT to enable the external activities and relationships of the business to closely cooperate within other businesses for the purposes of growing.

The BDS outreach as a capacity building component of the PSF has been helping the businesspersons to manage their affairs in a more organized manner. Unfortunately however, Omar contends that only a few of the businesspersons seek the support of BDS. They say that they are too busy to get time.

"It is sometimes our mistake. BDS offers us a chance to access internet and see how business is done at the international level. But how many of us visit them? Few of course,” James Murindahabi, one upcoming businessman observed.

It is noticeable that businesspersons in Rwamagana, join the East African Community with a language handicap. "Most of them use Kinyarwanda only, with few trying Kiswahili. This is a great disadvantage in commerce.

There are some cases where they have avoided overseas business due to language barrier,” Omar explained further.
The official emphasized that e-business will make it easier for businesses to boost their sales..

"It is lamentable that even big businesspersons do not take advantage of ecommerce services which we readily provide. Yet these are readily affordable,” the official pondered.
