East African Media Summit slated for August

The East African Community Secretariat in collaboration with the East African Business Council (EABC) will hold the 3rd East African Media Summit from 21st to 22nd August 2009 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

The East African Community Secretariat in collaboration with the East African Business Council (EABC) will hold the 3rd East African Media Summit from 21st to 22nd August 2009 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

A statement from EABC said that the summit will bring together over 230 Media owners, Chief Executive Officers of Media houses, media executives, publishers, and editors in East Africa to discuss the role of the media in the regional integration process under the theme, "EAC’s Ten Years of Progress; the Media as partners in promoting deeper integration”.

"At the media summit, leading media experts and owners will make presentations, which will be augmented by seasoned panelists on regional integration, media and trade related issues,” the statement said.

”As part of the EAC 10th Anniversary, the selection committee for the EAC Media Award Competition will be announced at the same occasion,” it added. 

To crown the Media Summit, a Media Training Workshop on EAC: Celebrating 10 Years of Progress: ‘From a Customs Union to a Common Market’ will be held for practicing journalists on 22nd August 2009.
