ANGELIQUE Mukeshimana kept AS Kigali in the race for this year’s national women league title after netting the winning goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Aspej.

Like AS Kigali’s coach Grace Nyiranumuntu had predicted, the Rwamagana-based side were a hard nut to crack.

Aspej opened the scoring but the Kigali City Council side responded with strikes from Captain Chadia Uwamahirwe and Mukeshimana to maintain their pressure on reigning champions and table leaders APR.

The win moved AS Kigali to 39 points, one short of APR and three clear of the surging in Musanze. The title will now be decided this Sunday when the two league giants clash.

Nyiranumuntu is braced for the challenge as she told Times Sport, "The players have showed that they are eager to compensate for dropping points against La Charite and that is a very good sign.”

"We lost valuable points against La charite but we want to make up for it with a strong performance this Sunday.”
