RDB-IT on broadband network

Rwanda Development Board [RDB]’s Information Technology department will hold a workshop today on the activation of Kigali Metropolitan Network expected to facilitate information sharing across key organisations in the public sector.

The workshop will be held at Laico Umubano Hotel former Novotel in Kacyiru. 

Needy youths to get help

The ministry of gender and family promotion is going to carry out an exercise across the country of selecting the most vulnerable youths and providing them with help.

The ministry intends to call a press conference to explain the exercise that will be carried out across the country at cell level after the Umuganda (community works) of July 25 and 29 August 2009.

The minister is yet to specify what kind of help they will give to the children.

Validation of local and central government

The Ministry of Local government is preparing a two day review of performance contracts of the central and local government before they are presented before the President in parliament.

The review to be done at all levels of leadership will be held in Kigali on 23 and 24 July this year.

CCTV at airports

Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA), entered into an agreement with RDB-IT for the maintenance of CCTV camera, automation of car park in all airports in bid to make better security.

This was revealed by a document from RCAA.
Other things include provision and installation of flight information display system.

 $4.5m to combat child labour

A sum of $4.5m has been earmarked by the American department of Labour and Bureau of International Labour Affairs to combat Exploitive Child Labour in Rwanda.

Organisations directed at fighting child labour are advised to apply for the funds.
This was revealed by an email from the American Embassy in Kigali.

Kanombe under renovation

SITA, a multinational company based Geneva, Switzerland contracted by Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) is installing Very High Frequency (VHF) Aircom at Kigali International Airport.

A document from the RCAA revealed that a total of 150 airliners use the AIRCOM data link service and 6000 aircrafts use the VHF service.
