KARONGI - The State Minister of Local Government Christine Natanyi has threatened to blacklist Karongi District as the worst performing district in her report.
The tough talking minister issued the warning during her meeting with leaders of the seven districts that make up the Western Province.

The threat was provoked when the district’s Executive Secretary Yves Bernard Ningabire and Emmanuel Tuyisenge the in charge of the Fund of Genocide Survivors (FARG) came into the meeting, minutes after the minister had begun her presentation.

The furious minister immediately sent the two back before they reappeared to apologize and be allowed into the meeting which took place at the provincial headquarters.

More drama unveiled when Ningabire dodged to give a presentation and Tuyisenge failed to answer the minister’s questions, an action that attracted more wrath from the minister.

"Development is our collective responsibility and I wonder if the leaders of this district (Karongi) and its residents have done enough to spearhead this,” said she.

She revealed that over Rfw12b had been put aside to help elevate the poorest regions but could not hide her frustration and disappointment with the administration of Karongi district.

"I will include in my report that Karongi is the worst performer in terms of adhering to government policies,” she threatened.
