HONOREE Ayebare, Dominique Mwiza and Blandine Ndaya can’t wait to enjoy themselves when the eagerly awaited Zone 5 Club Championships throw off next week in Kampala, Uganda.
The trio, who starred for Rwanda during this year’s Zone 5 Championship and in the process earned the country her maiden ticket to the Afrobasket women scheduled for October, is eager to transfer their league form into the one-week event which gets underway on July 27.
"The mood in the team is wonderful and we can’t wait to get started,” Ayebare said.
APR, who have been training at Nyarugenge courts, are expected to shift to Amahoro’s indoor stadium as they fine-tune themselves for the regional event, which also counts as a qualifier for this year’s Fiba-Africa Club Championships.
In Kampala, APR will contend with the likes of KCC Leopards, A-1 Challenge and Kampala International University from Uganda, Kenya Port Authority (KPA), Eagle Wing, Somalia’s Heagem and Tanzania’s Jeshi Stars among others.
The top two sides will represent the region at this year’s FIBA Africa club championships whose venue is yet to be confirmed.
