Times Sport confirms that the two trial goalkeepers at Roda, Maxime Wenssens and Guy Smith, were all told to depart on December 24 as the club seeks to look at different options. Wenssens, 23, was released by Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Union Saint Gilloise in June after featuring for their youth team in the fourth ties. He made eight appearances, conceded 13 goals and kept two clean sheets in the 2023/24 season.
This is the second time this month that Wenssens has failed trials as he also failed at Ajax Amsterdam. Born to a Belgian father and a Rwandan mother, Wenssens made his official debut for Amavubi on March 25 in a 2-0 international friendly win over Madagascar.
