RWANDA’s top female athlete Epiphanie Nyirabarame has been offered a one-month training camp ahead of next month’s Berlin World Athletics Championship.
The two-time Olympian, who hit the qualification time at the first time of asking, will have her training camp fully funded by the International Athletics Amateur Federation (IAAF).
Nyirabarame, who leaves for Germany this Sunday, will have a two-week stint in Potsdam before relocating to Nieu Brandenburg for another two weeks.
The athlete will then head to the athletes’ village in Berlin on August 12 where she will be joined by Rwanda’s ace athlete Dieudonne Disi.
Disi, who will compete in the full marathon category (42km), will acclimatize in Spain.
Disi is eager to make amends after failing to qualify for the previous World Championships which were held in 2007 in Osaka, Japan.
The championships, expected to attract over 25,000 athletes will be held in the 74, 218-seater Berlin Olympic stadium.
Meanwhile, Usain Bolt has been named in the strong 46-member Jamaican team for the championships.
Bolt, who captured gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay in Beijing, heads the 23-member male contingent, while Veronica Campbell-Brown, a two-time Olympic 200m champion, leads the 23-member female team.
