RUGBY fans will be disappointed after learning that the national rugby federation has opted not to hold the second round of the league which was due to start this weekend.
The federation’s secretary general Janvier Ugeziwe yesterday revealed that the federation had failed to garner funds to stage the second round.
"We don’t funds to stage the second round. We have approached a number of corporate companies like MTN, BCR, Eco Bank and ORPTN but all in vain,” he said.
"We now want to turn our focus on the Silverbacks (men’s national team) and the Blackbacks (women’s national team),”he added.
Reigning champions Remera Buffaloes could now hold onto their title after topping the charts at the end of the first round.
Buffaloes were in control on 22 points, three clear of UNR Grizzlies and a further eight more than Sharks.
