Amavubi caretaker coach Jimmy Mulisa says his players weren’t clinical in front of goal as they missed a number of chances that could have turned the result around during Sunday’s thrilling first leg clash against South Sudan in Juba.
Rwanda lost 3-2 at the hands of the Bright Stars at Juba International Stadium and failure to beat the same team in the second leg, due in Kigali on December 28, could see them miss out on ticket to CHAN 2024 finals for the second time in a row.
The away side created a number of decent chances but failed to utilize them, leaving Mulisa unimpressed.
"It was a very good game, an entertaining one with many goals. We were just unlucky,” Mulisa told the press after the match.
"Statistically, we dominated the game and could have scored more than five goals. We created chances but we could not score. We will have to improve our scoring efficiency and see how the second leg goes," he added.

Rwanda skipper Kevin Muhire also admitted that they wasted a lot of scoring opportunities but promised to correct the errors in the second leg in Kigali.
"It was not an easy game, we created lots of chances but we couldn&039;t score. I hope the second leg at home will be better," he said.
The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the CHAN 2024 finals which will take place in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from February 1-22, 2025.
