KISORO—regional leaders from Rwanda, DR Congo and Uganda have called for continued cross border interactions and meetings to promote cooperation and tranquillity.

This was during the celebrations to mark Uganda’s 45th Independence Day in Kisoro district which were attended by the a delegation of the Rwandan leaders from the Northern Province led by Boniface Rucagu.

The independence celebrations in Kisoro were attended by leaders of the districts from neighbouring countries including DR Congo.

Feller Rutachirwa the vice governor of North Kivu-D R Congo asked the leaders to embrace collaboration in promoting peace and security.

Residents from Burera district and Kisoro-Uganda are said to be sharing a lot in terms of cooperation especially trade as communication in kinyarwanda helps to promote relations.

The Uganda’s Resident District Commissioner (RDC) David Maseruka said that whereas the physical demarcations do exist, the neighbouring countries have a common bond and should therefore work towards peace.
