I&M Bank Rwanda (Plc), in partnership with Kigali Serena Hotel celebrated Christmas with children from SOS Children's Villages in Kayonza District.

The event which took place on Thursday, December 19, at Kigali Serena Hotel, brought together staff from both the Bank and the hotel, along with caregivers from SOS Children's Villages.

The celebration featured a festive lunch, gift presentations, and other activities. This ongoing partnership between I&M Bank Rwanda and Serena Hotel, began in 2023.

SOS Children&039;s Villages is an international non-profit organisation with a mission to care for children and youth who have lost or who are at risk of losing parental care. They operate in 136 countries worldwide.

Addressing the children, Benjamin Mutimura, the Managing Director at I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc, encouraged them to embrace their potential and work towards a bright future.

He said, "I want to remind you that you have a bright and promising future ahead. I&M Bank is here to wish you a Merry Christmas, but also to remind you that you are children of value,” he said.

He told the children the key steps they can take to prepare for success, both in life and as future clients of the Bank. "First of all, you have to study hard and be smart. Secondly, you must have discipline, listen to your elders, embrace Rwandan values, and approach everything you do with love.”

Mutimura also expressed gratitude for the collaboration with Serena Hotel and extended his appreciation to the caregivers of SOS Children's Villages for their dedication to raising and nurturing future leaders.

Herman Mwasanghua, the Deputy General Manager at Serena Hotels, thanked I&M Bank for holding Serena in their right hand and ensuring this initiative comes to fruition.

He emphasised that the initiative aligns with Serena Hotels’ core values of giving back to the community. "The idea of giving Christmas to children stems from our commitment to helping those less fortunate enjoy the holiday season and have their Christmas wishes come true. We couldn’t do this alone, and I&M Bank has been instrumental in making it happen.”

Mwasanghua noted the importance of collaboration in creating meaningful change.

"When two or more people come together, there is strength. Many children out there have dreams when they hear the word Christmas, but making those dreams a reality requires a concerted effort from key stakeholders.”

Cyprien Masumbuko, the Village Director, thanked I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc, and Serena Hotel for their thoughtful support, particularly during the festive season.

He also acknowledged the bank's ongoing commitment. "We are grateful not only for this year but also for your promise to return next year. In the short time you prepared this initiative, it has already had a meaningful impact,” he noted.

"The messages you shared with the children and with us will be respected and upheld,” Masumbuko added.
