Uwayezu appointed MINISPORTS permanent secretary

Former Simba SC CEO François-Régis Uwayezu has been appointed Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Sports-courtesy.

Football administrator François-Régis Uwayezu has been appointed as the new permanent secretary of the Ministry of Sports.

He replaced Nelly Mukazayire who was appointed the Minister of Sports succeeding outgoing Minister Richard Nyirishema.

The reshuffle in the ministry is part of new appointments made during the cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame on Friday, December 20.

Uwayezu’s appointment comes close to a month after he parted ways with Tanzanian giants Simba SC as their Chief Executive Officer in November. He left the job after just three months in office.

The former APR Vice Chairman also previously served as the Secretary-General of local football governing body (FERWAFA) between 2018 and 2021.

Uwayezu also worked as a Government Internal Auditor, Director of Administration and Finance as well as Director of Operations in different institutions.

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and Accounting and a certificate of IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards).
