President Paul Kagame on Friday, December 20, appointed Nelly Mukazayire as the new Minister of Sports. She replaces Richard Nyirishema who has been in office since his appointment in August.

Kagame also made several other appointments. Rwego Ngarambe became the Minister of State in the Ministry of Sports while Regis Uwayezu, who most recently served as CEO of Tanzania football giants Simba SC, was appointed Permanent Secretary, a position previously held by Mukazayire until her appointment on Friday.

Meanwhile, Godfrey Kabera was appointed as Minister of State in charge of the National Treasury.
