The local basketball governing body (FERWABA) has confirmed that the inaugural Rwanda Super Cup will take place on January 17, 2025.
Federation’s Executive Director Fiona Ishimwe confirmed the dates to Times Sport adding that the venue for the games, both men and women, will be announced in due course.
The Super Cup was introduced by the 2023 General Assembly. Serving as the curtain-raiser for the new season, it pits the league champions against the winners of the recently introduced Rwanda Cup.
Rwandan champions APR will face Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the men’s category. The army side won both trophies and they will, as a result, play against REG who finished as Rwanda Cup 2024 runners-up.
In the women's category, league champions REG will lock horns with APR who are reigning Rwanda Cup winners.
Both matches will follow a single-game format where the winner will be determined after a 40-minute, four-quarter contest.
