Canal Olympia, Rebero, will be the home of hip hop as Rwandan rappers are looking forward to sharing the stage at the much-anticipated Icyumba cya Rap concert on December 27.
The likes of former Tough Gang crew members Bulldog, Green P, Fireman and P Fla will reunite during the strictly hip hop show, in what could be one of the biggest highlights of the evening.
Other big names featuring on the lineup include Riderman, Diplomate, Dany Nanone, Jay C, as well as members of the new hip hop generation like Zeo Trap, B Threy, Bushali, Ish Kevin and Logan Joe among others.
After a successful Icyumba Cy’Amategeko concert, during which Riderman and Bulldog launched their joint album, local events firm Ma Africa is again working behind the curtains to ensure that Icyumba Cya Rap lives up to its billing.
According to Riderman, the concert will not only celebrate the powerful comeback that hip hop has made in Rwanda’s mainstream music in 2024; it will also confirm the renaissance of the genre which has been down for a long time.
The Holo hit maker noted that Icyumba cya Rap signals unity among the old and young generations producing hip hop, which has never been the case before in the history of the genre in Rwanda.
"Hip hop has had a great year full of milestones worth celebrating, and this event is a way of showing our audience that the genre represents love and unity among rappers. It will be a big show and we invite our fans to show up and enjoy,” the rapper told The New Times.
Tickets for the concert are on sale via Ma Africa's website (www.maafrica.rw) at Rwf 5,000 for regulars as well as Rwf 10,000 and Rwf 20,000 for VIP and VVIP seats.
