A child, who appeared in a video claiming he was being brutalised by his mother, has been traced, the National Child Development Agency (NCDA) said on Wednesday, November 2.

The Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Jeannette Bayisenge had said earlier that they were looking for the 13-year-old boy.

In the video, which circulated on social media and was watched over 40,000 times on TikTok and Twitter micro-blogging platforms, the child claimed that his mother beat him using objects like bricks, a situation he said he was tired of.

"We have identified the child and we have spoken with his parents,” the NCDA said in a tweet, adding that they were following up on the child’s rights and protection.

The children’s agency, however, did not specify what will be done about the boy’s allegations.

The child is now with his family, according to an official source.

Another source said the video was recorded in Muhanga District by a TikTok user, who has not been identified.
