Zero customs duty in 2010

Juma Mwapachu, Secretary General of the East African Community [EAC] revealed that effective 1, January 2010; there will be zero customs on all goods traded across the East African Community member borders.

"In January 2010, the fully fledged Customs Union comes into effect with zero customs duty applicable to all goods traded among the EAC Partner States.

This is a significant milestone in the road to EAC integration and will greatly impact trade, investments and revenues of the Partner states,” he said during the 2nd East African Community Investment conference in Kenya.

KCB to increase branches in Rwanda

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) that recently made entrance into the Rwandan Banking Sector has announced to open more branches in the region.

Managing Director in charge of Rwanda, Mourice Toroitich, disclosed this yesterday during a working visit to Uganda.He also said that they will soon extend their banking services to Central Africa by the end of this year.

Speaker addresses Vienna meet

Rwanda’s Parliament Rosemary Mukantabana is expected back into the country from Vienna, Austria where she addressed a conference. 

The conference addressed issues on violence against women.

Training to stop accidents

Dieudome Nteziyazenye coordinator of ASSETAMORWA, an association for commercial motorists across the country has said that they have increased trainings to motorists on the proper conduct on roads in an attempt to reduce accidents.

The police information desk revealed that for the first half of this year, 327 people have involved in accidents while using motorbikes.

King Faisal to change tariff

King Faisal hospital is set to announce new  tariff changes.
However the health facility doesn’t clarify whether the tariffs will be increased or decreased.

The hospital will be holding a press conference on 21 July to announce the changes.

Palau winding up charity work

Andrew Palau, son of well-known American evangelist Luis Palau of Season of Services [SOS] in partnership with over 100 local Rwanda churches are winding up with charity work across the country that reached out to genocide survivors during the commemoration.

They started charity work at the beginning of the commemoration of the genocide in April. In their endeavours they have distributed necessities to those orphaned and infected with HIV during the genocide against the Tutsi.

American Hip hop stars   to perform

Two renown American Hip hop stars who are scheduled to perform at Peti  Stade in Remera.Goddess a musician and Garcia a dancer and choreographer will perform on 22 July this year.
