I was rather disturbed when I read an articled published on October 25 entitled why students commit suicide. The growing number of secondary school students committing suicide is alarming.

Although it is true that alcohol and drugs are one of the major factors contributing to the deaths, the internet is another big factor. Some suicidal websites give reasons why it is good for one to commit suicide.

Piled with the pressures and anxieties of the adolescent stage, suicide seems a quick alternative to solve problems. As parents and guardians, we should equip the teenagers with problem solving skills and also train them on how to handle stress in a less harmful way.

Above all, we should show them love which covers up for many other problems.
