Rwanda’s football governing body, Ferwafa is convinced that early preparations for Amavubi Stars is the first step in trying to overturn the country’s crumbling 2010 World /Africa Nations Cup qualification campaign.

Ferwafa has announced that the national team, who play their next qualifier on September 5 against Egypt, will regroup as early as August 13 as they plot to fight their way back into the race to qualify for next year’s Africa Nations Cup in Angola.

"We believe three weeks is enough time for the team to fully prepare for the Egypt qualifier,” Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said.

With dreams of a debut World Cup appearance almost shuttered, Amavubi know that their best hope of qualification lies in the Africa Nations Cup where the top three from Group C will make the trip to Angola.

In the first leg of the third and final qualification round, Rwanda did little to salvage any hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Cup and Africa Nations Cup after managing a point from a possible nine following a home goalless draw against Algeria and away defeats against Zambia (0-1) and Egypt (0-3) .

Algeria, who had a good run in the first leg top the group with seven points after two wins and a draw.

Zambia and Egypt are on level points although the African champions come second to Algeria on goal difference.
