The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) on December 17 announced new places in Kigali where passengers will board buses for trips to the provinces as a way to avoid long queues at Nyabugogo bus station during the festive season.
The measures were taken to address the big number of passengers traveling across the country to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with their families, which often results long queues and congestion at the main bus station, RURA said in a statement.

From December 23-24, and from December 30-31, passengers travelling to the Southern corridor (Kamonyi, Muhanga, Ruhango, Nyanza, Huye, Nyamasheke, Karongi, Ngororero, Gisagara, Rusizi, Rutsiro and Nyaruguru), will get buses at Kigali Pele Stadium, in Nyamirambo.
For passengers travelling to the Eastern corridor (Rwamagana, Kayonza, Gatsibo, Nyagatare, Ngoma and Kirehe), they will board buses at Kabuga bus park, while those using the Northern corridor (Gicumbi, Nyagatare [through Gicumbi], Rulindo, Musanze, Rubavu, Burera, Gakenke and Nyabihu), will board buses at Nyabugogo bus park.
Passengers travelling to Bugesera will board buses at Nyanza bus park in Kicukiro.

RURA recommended that those planning to travel during the upcoming holidays are make reservations in advance to avoid being stranded at the bus stations.
The regulator and the City of Kigali staff will be present at different bus parks to facilitate commuters' movement, according statement.
