Nine-time league champions APR are on the brink of signing former Amavubi U-23 skipper Omar Hitimana (Right).

APR club president Brig. Gen. Alex Kagame told Times Sport yesterday that Hitimana is undergoing trails at the club and will boost his chances of joining the army side if he passes the trails.

"Hitimana is already undergoing trials at the club and it is now up to the coach to decide,” the APR chief said.

Meanwhile, reports from Uganda indicate that the former Rwanda U-23 captain has also been linked with a move to Uganda’s league champions URA and Kakungulu Cup champions SC Villa.

URA coach Moses Basena believes that the utility player will be a perfect replacement for Joseph Owino as the club prepares for next year’s continental cups.

"Hitimana is truly a good replacement after the departure of Joseph Owino to Simba of Tanzania,” Basena said.

The versatile defender Omar Hitimana has returned to Kigali after a two-year stint in the Uganda Super League.

Hitimana, who won last year’s Uganda Super League title with KCC, is out of contract with the Ugandan champions, the sole reason he did not feature for the Ugandan outfits at the just ended Kagame Cup/Cecafa Club Championships in Sudan which were won by Rwanda’s Atraco FC.

At the end of the 2006/07 season, the former Atraco player moved to Uganda where he signed a one-year contract with Express FC.

He joined KCC the following year on a one-year contract estimated to be in the region of $5000 (Rwf2.8 million).
