Friendly matches

Rayon 1-1 Inter Stars

APR 2-0 Inter Stars

The visiting Inter Stars did not enjoy their training tour of Rwanda over the weekend, drawing one and losing another of their two friendly ties.

The Burundian side managed a one-all draw against Rayon Sports on Sunday before going down 2-0 to the hands of APR Fc on Monday. Both games were played at Amahoro stadium.

Former APR striker Jean Lomami gave local league last season’s first runners up a tenth minute lead which they held for long before Selemani Ndikumana scored an 85th minute penalty to equalize for the visitors.

And the visitors’ despair continued the following day when they went down 2-0 to Rwandan league champions APR and had two players sent off.

New signings Eric Serugaba and Hegyman Ngoma were on target for the Cecafa/Kagame Cup holders in the second and 65th minutes respectively.

Striker Ndikumana who scored against Rayon in the first game was the first to be shown marching orders by Rwandan referee Issa Kagabo for elbowing APR’s right full back Eldefonse Musirikare.

Before too long, left full back Ado Mwanza was sent off for using abusive language toward the referee.

"They played rough football right from the start of the game and it cost us heavily,” Inter Stars coach Jean Amissi said while blaming his players for the loss.

Inter Stars tour of Rwanda comes just over a week after APR toured Bujumbura and played two friendly games against Burundian league champions Vital’ O which ended 0-0 before going down 2-0 against Athletico.
