Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women basketball club secured a spot in the 2024 Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) quarterfinals after beating Senegalese side Jeanne D'Arc 65-52 at the Marius Ndiaye Arena in Dakar on Wednesday, December 11, to make it two wins in three Group C games.

Despite the Jeanne d’Arc dominating the paint 34-28, and 21-17 on points off turnovers, the Rwandan champions shot 8-of- 31 from range, four off Destiny Promise Philoxy, to sink the home side, who only managed one trey.

"We stuck to the plan to come out on top. After the first quarter they had different plans but we wanted to win, continue being aggressive and to play REG basketball which is what we did. I am proud of my team and we cannot wait to play on Friday," Destiny Promise Philoxy.

Both REG and APR women, representing Rwanda, both managed to book a ticket into the last eight.

The teams placed 1st and 2nd of each group and the two best 3rd places based on point differential qualified for the second round.
