Arsene Tuyisenge, Mamahadou Lamine Bah and Ramadhan Niyibizi were on target as APR FC inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Kiyovu Sports in a rescheduled Rwanda Premier League game at Kigali Pele Stadium on Wednesday, December 11.

It was a game that the Green Baggies will rue their missed chances as they had two glorious opportunities to open the scores before APR turned the heat on them scoring twice in the first half.

Coach Darko Novic made some changes to the squad which played a goalless draw with Rayon Sports over the weekend, with Arsene Tuyisenge taking Mamadou Sy’s place as his number 9 while Bosco Ruboneka also started in midfield ahead of Taddeo Lwanga.

Kiyovu, on the other hand, had goalkeeper Djihad Nzerurwanda returning to the posts in place of Patrick Ishimwe.

The game started on a high tempo and it was Kiyovu who created the first chance. Cherif Bayo twisted and turned his marker at the edge of the APR penalty box but saw his effort sailed over the bar in the 15th minute.

Kiyovu had another glorious chance in the 20th minute as Kevin Ishimwe cut in from the right flank but goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila came to the rescue after the Burundian shot straight into his hands.

After Kiyovu missed those two chances, APR moved more men forward and bombarded the opponent penalty area.

Arsene Tuyisenge missed a fine chance to score in the 30th minute before he produced a moment of magic for the opener in the 44th minute. Skipper Claude Niyomugabo went on an overlapping run on the left and whipped in a cross which he volleyed home to make it 1-0.

Lamine Bah doubled the lead three minutes later, firing a thunderbolt from outside the box to make it 2-0 at the break.

Novic’s side maintained their momentum in the second half as they pinned Kiyovu to their own half.

Kiyovu’s attack could barely create chances as they did in the first half. This allowed the APR back four to have the license to move forward.

Niyibizi scored the third goal for the visitors in the 80th minute to pile more misery on Kiyovu Sports.

With the victory already sealed, Novic handed some playing time for Jean Rene Ishimwe and Johnson Nwobodo Chidebere who came in for skipper Claude Niyomugabo and Gilbert Mugisha respectively in the 86th minute.

All APR FC did was to keep their clean sheet as they went on to bag their sixth league win of the season.

Meanwhile, the result piled more misery on Kiyovu who have managed just two wins so far this season. Defeat to APR was their ninth while they drew once and find themselves at the bottom of the table with 7 points.
