Dates for this year’s beach handball competition have been changed according to the national handball federation. The development was provoked by the forth-coming national exams for senior three and senior six students.

"A number of clubs wrote to the federation asking for the tournament to be postponed because some of their team players were preparing to sit for national exams and we have granted their request,” the federation’s secretary general Daniel Kwizera said.

The two-day competition which was only incepted last year was initially meant to run from November 3-4 but has now been moved to November 10-11. After the development, Kwizera has encouraged clubs that had not registered to comply before the set deadline.

"Clubs that hadn’t registered should use this (postponement) to their advantage. We don’t mind how many clubs get involved. All we want is to have as many clubs as possible competing,” he said. The requirement that a club needs to participate is eight players; four first team players and four substitutes.

Last year, School of Finance and Banking (SFB) and Rwanda National University (UNR) were crowned champions in the men and ladies’ category while Rubavu and Rumuli emerged best in the boys and girls (juniors) category and like last year; the event will be staged in Rubavu, Gisenyi.
