RUSIZI-A 10-year boy has been murdered and dumped along side the road in Nyakabuye sector in Rusizi district.

Bonani Kamana was killed last Friday and his body was found by some residents in the sector after a search by both the deceased’s parents.

The Rusizi District Police Commander (DPC) Supt Danny Ndayambaje, told The New Times that  Bonani’s killer has been identified.

"Due to good collaboration between security organs and the residents in area we have already arrested the suspect (Niyonkuru) whom our investigations so far point that he has a case to answer with respect to the murder case,” said Supt Ndayambaje.

Speaking to The New Times on Sunday, Niyonkuru in response said that he was hired to kill the deceased by one Tharesis Maniragaba who had promised to give him Rwf 50,000 and a related reward.

"I am sorry to have killed such an innocent boy and I ask for forgiveness from his parents, relatives and Rwandans in general.

However I must reveal that I was hired to murder by a certain  Maniragaba, a business man in Nyakabuye sector who had promised to give me a hug some of money,” Niyonkuru revealed on Sunday.

He also said that after killing the boy through strangling using a rope, he took the murder weapon to Maniragaba  who had told him that he should consider selling  it for over  Rwf3 millions in Burundi for witchcraft purposes.

Supt Ndayambaje also told The New Times that such cases of strangling murder victims  with ropes was a  rampant incidence in Bweyeye, Bugarama and Nyakabuye in 2006 and 20007.
