Rwanda women’s athletics team struggled to bag a medal at the ongoing East Africa Legislative Assembly Games in Mombasa, Kenya, after finishing fourth in the women’s 400 meters’ relay.
Rwanda had four lawmakers in Germaine Mukabalisa, Olive Uwamurera, Wassila Niwemahoro and Umutesi Liliane in the 400m relay but none managed to strike a medal.
Uganda struck gold in the race with Tanzania finishing second with a silver medal while Kenyan legislators took home a bronze medal.
Meanwhile, the 400m relay men’s title went to Kenya.

Led Vincent Kawaya (Mwala), the Kenyan team delivered a spectacular performance that sent fans into wild celebrations.
In golf, Kenya has put up a strong squad of 20 players, captained by Buuri MP Ridiki Murwithania. They face stiff competition from perennial rivals Uganda who also have a medal in their sights.
There also more entries from Tanzania and Rwanda with the latter having representatives in Volleyball, basketball, athletics and tug of war.
The EAC inter-parliamentary Games were officially opened on Sunday by Kenya president William Ruto.
