Makeda Mahadeo, a celebrated Kigali-based media personality, DJ, and emcee, has been announced as the host for the prestigious FIA Awards ceremony, set to take place on Friday, December 13, at the BK Arena.
The FIA Awards, an annual event honouring the achievements of FIA Champions from the past season, will be held in Rwanda for the first time. The 2024 edition is expected to attract over 800 delegates from across the globe.

The prize giving ceremony will conclude the 2024 FIA General Assembly, which runs from December 10 to 13. It is a historic occasion as Rwanda becomes the first African country to host the global event.
Makeda, a Rwandan-Jamaican media personality, brings her dynamic energy and experience to the stage.
Known for her versatility, Makeda has produced and presented the popular radio show ‘The SWiTCH’ on Contact FM for five years and co-anchored the ‘Rise and Shine Rwanda’ breakfast television show. She also broke ground as one of Rwanda’s first female DJs and has continued to blaze a trail in the entertainment and media industry.
Beyond her local influence, Makeda has earned recognition on major platforms. She served as a celebrity judge on East Africa’s Got Talent, the regional version of America’s Got Talent, and anchored for CNBC Africa.
Her hosting expertise was also on display at events such as the Africa Mobile and Digital Leaders Dinner, which convenes leading innovators, policymakers, and industry giants across the continent.
The FIA Awards will celebrate the standout performers of the 2024 motorsport season, showcasing the drivers and champions who have excelled in their respective disciplines. The event is anticipated to not only highlight the achievements of motorsport’s elite but also shine a spotlight on Rwanda as a premier destination for global events.
Among the confirmed prize recipients include Dutch driver Max Verstapen who won his fourth Formula One title this year.
The Red Bull driver will accept his trophy at the awards' ceremony while also serving his sentence for using unacceptable language during the pre-event press conference at the Singapore Grand Prix last September.
